Paul Gordon Magic Lecture

Since 1987, Paul Gordon has lectured worldwide including 4Fs (Fechter's Finger Flinging Frolics), The IBM, Tannen's Jubilee, Mark Leveridge's Close-Up Symposium, The Magic Circle (5 times), FFAP (France), Blackpool Magic Convention, Penguin Live, At The Table Experience, Monaco All Stars and in Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, Belgium and all over the UK. It's a fun fast-paced lecture that even non-cardmen will learn from and enjoy.

There's no heavy material; just doable worker commercial card magic and lots of typical Paul Gordon fun. Paul's lecture is full of worker doable card magic from his best-selling Gold Dust Trilogy, Card Startlers, Quidnunc, Article 52, Card Thrillers and Card Foolers; plus tips, advice, stories, patter, presentation, gags, experiences, funnies etc., etc!

Paul is a member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star and recipient of the John Nevil Maskelyne Prize for Literature.

Etienne Pradier – The French Magician

Etienne has won many awards during his 30 years of performing magic at the highest level. He is one of the only 200 people to be presented a gold star membership and been promoted to the inner magic circle.  He won The Magic Circle Magician of the Year, Colombe d’or France and 3rd in the world Championship in Holland. And also “Fooled Penn and Teller” on our screens not long ago.

Etienne has worked all around the world performing his magic at many famous venues including Windsor Castle for The King and other members of The Royal Family and whole host of  A listed Celebrities.

With over 32 years of experience in the bar and magic industry, Mark will share his story of how he established the UK’s first Magic Bars, as well as his current performances. He will provide guidance on what it takes to be an all round Magician, from Bar Magician, Close-up and Parlour.

This will be an exclusive opportunity to learn from Mark Bennett, a Gold Star Magic Circle Member a professional magician, owner of a magic theatre, and creator of magic, for a unique and exciting opportunity. Expect an evening filled with inspiring performances and valuable takeaways.

Having had the privilege of lecturing at numerous magic clubs across the UK and globally, including prestigious venues such as the Magic Circle and the IBM in Sydney, I am excited to bring "Organised Chaos" to the members of The Surrey Society of Magicians.

This lecture is a culmination of real world working magic, commercial effects, some fun sleights and silly ideas made to get members thinking a little different. All still bringing the feel of spontaneity and excitement.

During the lecture, I will share some of my created and released effects, techniques, and personal anecdotes that will resonate with both novice and seasoned magicians alike. From effective routine planning to audience engagement strategies, "Organised Chaos" offers insights that can aide your creativeness and help with magic performances.

Magician Liam Ball, grew up captivated by the enchantment of magic, inspired by legends like Paul Daniels and David Copperfield. His journey from entertaining in the Army's officers' mess to becoming a member of The Magic Circle showcases his passion. Now, as an esteemed magician, Liam Ball merges his magical prowess with his military discipline. Catch him lecturing at the Surrey Society of Magicians on June 6th.

As well as being a magician and magic consultant, Scott Penrose is a former President of The Magic Circle having been proposed for the post by Paul Daniels. He is also the Honorary Vice President of The British Magic Society, the UK's oldest Magic Club. Scott will be lecturing at SSOM on the 30th May where he will be talking about the Houdin Owl and Orange Tree as well as the Maskelyne’s Psycho! Not to be missed.

This Annual Event pits our best Close-Up Magicians to compete for the Surrey Society Trophy. There is also the Mary Oberoi Comedy award for the funniest act.

It is a public event so please bring along your friends and family. This is one of the highlights of our year and not to be missed.

Mike will be showing us his repertoire of close-up or parlour tricks which have been honed over many years as a professional magician and magic consultant. His lecture notes are titled “Vernon said…” in which he demonstrates how subtlety can be a substitute for dexterity. He will also tell us how Vernon’s teachings had a profound effect on his approach towards magic!

Giancarlo Scalia is an Italian magician based in Madrid. Besides studying and practicing magic since he was a child, he develops his interest in the performing arts by learning various circus disciplines and continues his artistic training by studying physical theater and mime in Italy and Spain.

If you have seen Giancarlo's magic, you know that his gestural ability is extraordinary. In this lecture Giancarlo will show you his conception of magic and his way of interacting with the elements, which is based mainly on natural, economical movement. He will teach you how to redesign your tricks and techniques obtaining maximum results with minimum effort. An encounter not to be missed!

Chris Rawlins, a professional mentalist from the North of England. In 2013, Chris presented at The Session Convention, unveiling his clipboard peek, "REVEAL," hailed by Luke Jermay as "The ultimate clipboard glimpse." In 2014, Chris released his first standalone DVD, "Leading Thoughts," with Vanishing Inc Magic.

Chris has built a strong reputation for creating modern, unique, and creative material. Uri Geller praises Chris as a "creative, original thinker and a truly great performer." Currently working full time as a mentalist and performer, Chris entertains in the real world while sharing his routines, methods, and approach to mentalism with the magic community.

Chris will be giving us a magic lecture on the 7th March at the Nomad Theatre.

Paul Fowler, a seasoned magician with over a decade of experience, has rapidly gained prominence in the magic scene over the past 18 months with successful releases like Overdraft & Transaction. His magic is celebrated globally, performed by magicians worldwide.

In his lecture 'Working Magic,' Paul focuses on EDC, organic props, and clever presentations. Attendees will learn visually stunning, unreleased material suitable for any audience. The lecture provides insight into connecting with the audience and making a lasting impression.

Members of the Surrey Society of Magicians will be bringing their favourite close-up, palour and stage props to demo to other members and discuss how they use them in their acts.

Join us for an evening where experienced members of the Surrey Society of Magicians will be teaching other members their favourite chop cup routines as well as some impromptu card tricks (some of which require zero sleight of hand moves).

Our first club meeting of the new year will be an opportunity for members to catch-up at the Nomad Theatre and to show off the latest miracles Santa (or loved ones) gave them over Christmas.

So bring your latest (or favourite) magic trick down to the club to demo to the rest of the group.
