SSOM at The Session 2024
Last weekend, members from our magic club embarked on a journey to West London for The Session, a magical convention located just moments away from Heathrow airport. We were treated to an extraordinary lineup of performances and lectures from renowned magicians. A few highlights included:
Alexandra Duvivier, a standout performer from France, graced us with her presence. Having written and performed eight standalone shows and even fooling Penn and Teller, Duvivier's lecture was a delightful blend of wisdom, wit, and mesmerizing illusions, leaving us captivated and inspired.
David Stone, a multi-award winning French magician, added his unique blend of humour and magic to The Session. From an engaging lecture to a show-stopping performance in the Gala Show, Stone's presence left the audience spellbound.
Luke Jermay, a perennial favourite, shared his unparalleled insights into the art of magic both in his brand new lecture as well as a surprise interview with Joshua Jay (one of the co-founders of Vanishing Inc).
Danny Buckler, known for his comedic prowess and zany approach to magic, brought laughter and astonishment in equal measure. Compering the Gala show on Friday, he made some very on the nose observations about the convention which brought the house down.
Tom Stone, an integral part of The Session's history, returned with an hour-long lecture that was nothing short of magical – we will never look at oven gloves the same way again!
Jack Bedell-Pearce, Adam Mosley, Gary Simms and David Harris were there this weekend representing the Surrey Society of Magicians!
